Read the Bottem First
Man kind has pooped on the ground for thousands of years along with all the other animals. Isn't that natures way? It's only been the last 50 or so years humans have used indoor plumbing. Of all the stupid things I've ever heard....... I get putting out your fires, picking up your trash and leaving the camping sight as clean or cleaner than when you found it, but pooping in tubes so you don't leave it!? No way!!!!! How would you even do that? Please don't tell me I don't want to know. I'm starting to think that the BSA has been high jacked by pansey idiots. What, are they having, a contest to see who can be the weirdest? Really, these are the so called men teaching our boys how to make it in the out doors? If a bear can crap in the woods so can we. I told my son if they tell him to poop in a tube, to tell them his mother won't alow him to stick stuff up his $&#.
Men? Where have they gone? What has happened to our men? My husband is still a man and I know others too. In my oppinion, a real man is one who can camp and hunt and squat. My man may come home dirty, but at least I know he's a real man. He aint usin no tube.
I've been in scouting now for 12 years. I love working with the boys. The hiking and weekly meeting to pass off merit badges is great fun and very educational. And how about those pine wood derby races and the Blue and Gold dinners? So here's what gets me just so fired up. Not long ago I went to a Round Table Meeting. They told us we weren't allowed to let the boys pick up rocks or sticks or touch the flower or leaves. They said, if they wanted to take some thing home from the hike that could take a picture or do a rubbing. I just sat there thinking, "This is a joke and the punch line will be any minute." Nope. No punch line. They were serious. At that point I decided I wouldn't be taking my scouts on any hikes that they couldn't have hands on. These boys don't need to be marched down a trail like little solders and not aloud to touch any thing. What's the fun in that? Where's the learning experience in that? I decided I'd take them some where they could pick up a rock, stick, arrow head, fossil, leaf, or flower to take home with them as a keep sake.
Then only last week a friend of mine told me her husband went on a Leave No Trace Behind Hike. She said they had to poop in a tube. You heard me. Poop in a tube!

Where Have All the Good Men Gone?

I've started this blog because I need a place to vent. Maybe I'll get some comments and feed back on my venting. I'd actually welcome it, so please don't hesitate. Just know that I may come right back at ya. So here goes.
You might think, by the name of this post, that I'm going to bash men. Nope, I'm not. Sorry all you men bashers. I really like most men and think they're a fine bunch. I'm actually wondering about certain ones, however, especially the ones who are supposed to be the great out doors type. I'm speaking specifically of our professional scouters.
I thought these men were supposed to be the rough and rugged out doorsy type that can start a fire with flint and steel, live on jerky and dried fruit, drink from a stream, sleep under the stars, and squat when, well you know. I thought these were the men who are supposed to teach our sons the way of the land and how to make it in the wilderness with nothing but a buck knife and a cantine. I have been led to believe that these supposed great scouters were going to teach my sons not only out door skills but how to be a good citizen of these great United States of America. Isn't that what BSA stands for (Boy Scouts of America)?
